Steps works with any MetaTrader 5 account in hedging mode. We test with a partner broker and a partner prop firm first, and recommend them for the smoothest start.
What your account needs
MetaTrader 5
The desktop terminal. MetaTrader 4 is not supported.
Hedging mode
So separate trades can be managed one by one. Netting accounts are refused at connection.
The four markets
Gold, Dow Jones, Nasdaq 100 and Bitcoin as CFDs, under any symbol name.
Algo trading allowed
Your broker and account type must allow expert advisors.
Exness
We build and test Steps on Exness MT5 accounts first, including their demo servers. Opening an account through our partner link is free and does not change your trading costs.
Upcomers
Prop Unlock is set up around Upcomers challenge rules first. Other firms with MetaTrader 5 hedging accounts can be connected too, as long as their rules allow expert advisors.
Before you connect a challenge
- Confirm the firm allows expert advisors and third-party software
- Set the EA's daily loss limit below the firm's
- Check restricted news times and weekend rules
- Run it on a demo with the same rules first
Questions about brokers
Can I use the broker I already have?
Yes, if it offers MetaTrader 5 hedging accounts and the four markets. The EA maps symbol names by itself; for unusual names you can set them in the EA's SymbolMap input.
Does Steps.trade earn from my broker?
If you open an account through our partner link, the broker may pay us a commission. It does not change what you pay. See the affiliate disclosure.
Can I connect more than one account?
Larger plans include two or three MT5 accounts. Each account connects with its own code.
